Look how far we have come. Imagine how far we can go.

In 2007 we celebrate 25 years of CHI. Who knew in Gaithersburg MD, that there would even be a CHI, much less the quarter-century of research, innovation, engineering, and development that has produced one of the largest and most vibrant communities in the computing field. The progeny of CHI are many and expanding. Our community contributes to everything from interactive system infrastructures, design and evaluation methods, ubiquitous computing, and the societal and global impacts of information technology. We can rightly claim that CHI is at the center of the most interesting problems in modern computing. In 2006 the conference gathered our many communities and identities under a single umbrella. We invite you to take the next step, to reach beyond — beyond comfortable methods and practices; beyond state-of-the-art user experience designs; beyond scientific frameworks and reputations; beyond disciplinary and national cultures; beyond our far-flung professional networks.

How to get involved:

There are many opportunities to benefit from the conference. In addition to meeting and learning from other attendees, you can present long or brief research papers, or you can share your experiences and lessons learned from your HCI practices. If you want to interact with a specific set of researchers or practitioners, you may want to organize a workshop or special interest group. The Call for Participation will be online after CHI 2006 and will provide details on these options.
